I’m passing too. The price is a big part of why, but I’m also still a little pissed at his management for yanking every Porcupine Tree torrent down from dimeadozen…

@Don: oh yeah, how dare they try to limit the amount of people stealing their stuff! shameless!
don’t get me wrong – I am downloading stuff myself, and I know some artists appreciate their music getting spread this way. but if they don’t, I can understand and respect that, too.
I wish I would have been strong enough not to order the album…
The price $50 seems to be justified for a high quality 10″ photo book containing 3 cds/dvds (if you enjoy that old fashioned kind of stuff like I do), but shipping is just a rip off.

If trading PT shows is seen by PT management as reducing the demand for professionally-produced PT live material, that smacks of paranoia.
RE: The price justification: I wanted the 5.1 mix and could do without the artwork, book, etc. Right now it doesn’t look like the DVD-A will be released outside of the limited edition. That would be a shame.

@Martin: Perhaps you’re unfamiliar with Dimeadozen. They aren’t a site that deals in the illegal distribution of legitimate releases, but rather audience recordings of concerts. Once upon a time, Porcupine Tree were a taper-friendly band. Then the band’s management did a complete 180 with no explanation. I agree with Alex’s response to you about the apparent “paranoia” behind it.

ok, you’re right. i apologize – wasn’t aware you’re talking about bootlegs.
I very well remember the first time I saw PT in a club (actually more a pub) in Germany, and they were perfectly fine with a friend recording the gig right from the mixer. I guess that’s what happens when you sign with major labels…
about insurgentes – i guess i’m just trying to convince myself this was 66 euros well spent…
Alex, I’m sure they’ll market a retail version of the 5.1 mix as well, and even if they don’t, you’ll surely find a file to download and burn a dvd.
