Rudolph out-shined by Mars tonight…
This is coming a little late, hopefully some of the readers may catch this before the magic hour.
Tonight Mars will be “at opposition” meaning this Christmas Eve it will sit directly opposite the sun. It will be about as close and as bright to Earth as it ever gets.
Helping will be the fact we are in full moon. The two celestial bodies will be highest in the sky at about midnight, which is prime time for Santa Claus! The pair will ride together tonight across the horizon. Mars will be easy to find, just look for the brightest star closest to the moon.
So eager viewers who aren’t experiencing a foggy Christmas Eve where they live can take a look outside tonight and see the red nose out shined by the red planet.
Happy Hoildays!
